About the museum
The Kuhhirtenturm in Sachsenhausen is a Gothic tower from the 14th century. From 1923 to 1927 the composer Paul Hindemith (1895–1963) lived in the tower and had his music room here.
After a comprehensive renovation in 2011, the Fondation Hindemith established a memorial there. The Hindemith Institut Frankfurt looks after the Kabinett.
Five modernly designed exhibition rooms show original pieces, historical documents and sound documents on the composer's life and work. On the top floor, the former study, there is a tiny concert hall with 25 seats for chamber music.
