Glass artworks by Wolfgang Nickel, which reinterpret well-known fairy-tale worlds. The opening takes place as part of the Museum Night.
The museum in Steinbach-Hallenberg is devoted to the iron crafts that shaped the Haselgrund area for centuries. Its focus is the so-called Kleineisengewerbe (small iron trade), which locally included pliers, corkscrews, and household and kitchen utensils.
The ensemble of historic buildings and outdoor areas includes a reconstructed nail forge, a corkscrew workshop from the early 20th century, the file-cutting works with original machines, a farm garden and a field forge. Demonstration forging keeps the work processes alive.
The permanent exhibition takes visitors on a journey through time in the Haselgrund: the first part covers the settlement and cultural history of the region, the second rural work and everyday life, with a furnished parlor, kitchen and pantry. The house is run by the Zweckverband Kultur of the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district.
