About the museum
The exhibition commemorates Emil Bahr, who performed as a strongman under the name Milo Barus and won the title "Strongest Man in the World" at an international competition in Paris in 1930. His stage acts took him through many cities around the world; he was famous for feats such as tearing telephone books apart and pulling vehicles with his teeth. From 1952 to 1976 he and his wife ran the Meuschkensmühle in the Eisenberger Mühltal, where the exhibition is now on display. His life was made into a film in 1983.
The exhibition was originally set up by FSV Einheit Eisenberg. When the club could no longer manage it, the town of Eisenberg took over sponsorship and organization. It has been open again since May 1, 2024, and volunteers help keep the opening hours. Documents, photos and keepsakes show the athlete's career and his connection to the Mühltal. Every year on October 3, the Milo-Barus-Cup, a strength sports competition held since 2000, takes place in the Mühltal.
