About the museum
The museum on Viernheim's city history is located in the former forester's house on Berliner Ring. Behind it lies the museum garden with further buildings, a former barn, the customs office and a farmhouse, which now houses the offices of the city archive and the museum. The administration is at Weinheimer Straße 9, the former seat of the Oberförsterei (forestry office).
The permanent exhibition runs over three floors, from the 1980s back to the early history of the region; on the first floor there is a historical overview. The museum education rooms are located in the garden.
The house is also a research facility of the city's history department. It presents special exhibitions, organizes lectures and courses, and runs projects such as the Stolpersteine (stumbling stones) and an eyewitness project.
