About the museum
The Natur- und Landschaftsmuseum is housed in the Werther Tor, part of the fully preserved and walkable town fortifications of Bad Münstereifel. At one time the gate housed a prison.
After a restoration in 1982, the museum opened in 1988. Ten years later a walk-in diorama was set up on the second floor, showing the three most important vegetation types around the town, including beech forest and damp forest meadows. In front of the gate lies a herb garden.
