About the museum
The NaturParkHaus Stechlin in Menz is the visitor and information center of the Stechlin-Ruppiner Land Nature Park. It is run by the friends' association "Naturlandschaft Stechlin und Menzer Heide" e.V. and funded by the Brandenburg Ministry of the Environment.
The interactive exhibition "Lebensraum Wald, Wasser, Moor" invites visitors on an imaginary expedition from the treetops to the lake bed. Visitors can phone animals in the forest, follow an ant colony into its castle, learn the language of the moor frog and test their senses with the forest treasure chest. The whole exhibition is designed to be accessible, including for people with visual impairments.
Outside, the sensory garden behind the house, a forest and water adventure trail and a moor adventure trail complement the offer. Under the title "Schule im Grünen" (School in the Green), the center runs environmental education programs for school classes.
