Ten artistic positions from Finland move between dream, memory and imagination, exploring spaces of the hidden where not everything needs to be explained.
Sculptures by the artist Anja Spitzer, shown over a longer period; listed on the exhibition page as an installation.
About the museum
The Neues Kunsthaus Ahrenshoop was founded in 1994 as the Kunsthaus Guttenberg in the house of sculptor Hertha von Guttenberg. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the aim was to create a place for contemporary international art in the artists' village of Ahrenshoop.
Because the rooms soon became too small, the house moved in 1998 under its new name into a converted former kindergarten on Bernhard-Seitz-Weg. The conversion and extension were led by Rostock architect Ursula Jastram.
Today the house devotes five to six exhibitions a year to current art and works closely with the Künstlerhaus Lukas, with which it shares sponsorship of the Künstlerhaus Ahrenshoop e. V. A focus is on international cooperation in the Baltic Sea region and on topics at the intersection of art and ecology. Together with the Künstlerhaus Lukas, the Edition Hohes Ufer publishes exhibition catalogs and artists' books.
