About the museum

The Kustodie of TU Dresden was founded in 1979 and is considered one of the oldest institutions of its kind in Germany. It oversees the university's cultural heritage, including more than 40 science and technology collections and a substantial art holding, and makes these holdings accessible through exhibitions, educational formats and databases.

The permanent exhibition in the Bürogebäude Zellescher Weg (BZW) office building presents around 300 exhibits: a cross-section of the collections as well as documents and objects on university history. Highlights include the Repsold universal instrument from the Saxon state survey, a Schubert gear model from the university's founding years, and the D4a small calculating machine designed by N. J. Lehmann. There are also documents from the estates of important professors, and equipment and models from teaching and research, such as a Robotron A 5120 office computer.

The Kustodie shows changing exhibitions in the Galerie im Görges-Bau.
