About the museum

The Heimatkreis Schneidemühl e. V. (Schneidemühl home association) preserves the memory of Schneidemühl in Cuxhaven, today's Polish city of Piła. Cuxhaven is the sponsoring city; the sponsorship has existed since 1957. According to a museum portal, the Heimatstuben were set up in the years 1994 to 1996 in the building of the Volkshochschule.

In a room of the Volkshochschule on Abendrothstraße there are countless pictures from the past and present, documents, books and mementos that give a comprehensive overview of the town's history. The collection is cared for by volunteers; visits should be arranged by phone in advance.

The Heimatstube is located in the adult education center (room 0 03); the elevator can be reached conveniently via the rear entrance at the parking lot.
