About the museum
The museum is housed in a half-timbered house more than 500 years old in the Allendorf district of Bad Salzungen; the year 1499 can be seen on the gable beam. The house takes its name from a small roof turret from 1611, in which the tower clock and bell hang.
The exhibition tells the story of information transmission, from oral tradition to radio and broadcast receivers. Particularly notable are the historic letterpress printing machines, some of which are demonstrated to visitors, including a Linotype typesetting machine from 1908. The museum also commemorates the Salzungen dialect poet and collector of legends Ludwig Wucke.
