About the museum
The former district of Bonn took over the sponsorship (Patenschaft) of the town of Stolp and the district of Stolp in Pomerania (today Słupsk) in 1955; the sponsorship certificate was handed over in 1956. Two years later, on May 10, 1958, the first Stolp local history room was inaugurated in the district office building (Kreishaus) in Bonn. After the municipal reorganization, the Bonn city council continued the sponsorship in 1970 and continued to provide rooms.
The sponsoring body is the Stolper Heimatkreise e. V. association, founded in 1986, whose members look after the houses on a volunteer basis. Today there are two locations: the local history room in the Beuel district town hall (Bezirksrathaus) and the local history room with archive in Bonn-Auerberg, opened in 2004.
The collection includes cultural artifacts, pictures, documents, books, photo albums, newspapers, and parish and official registers from the old homeland and from the history of the sponsorship. In Auerberg, the exhibition rooms include a Priebe room with paintings by the Stolp painter Otto Priebe and a Pomerania room with keepsakes; the archive is open to anyone interested in research and genealogy.
