About the museum

The museum barn lies on the edge of the Rostock Heath (Rostocker Heide) in Rostocker Wulfshagen, a district of Marlow. The Ehlershof has been in family ownership since 1866 and is a typical North German three-sided farmstead (Dreiseithof) with a dwelling house, stables, and barn. A small museum in the barn brings rural life from 1900 to 1950 to life.

On display are everyday objects from milk cans to laundry mangles, along with a fully functional threshing machine (Dreschkasten); some devices are demonstrated. The Verein der Freunde und Förderer der Wulfshäger Museumsscheune e. V., founded in 1999, aims to preserve and restore the barn, expand the exhibition on rural everyday culture, and keep historic farm machinery in working order. Besides guided tours by appointment, events include rural film evenings, concerts, puppet theater, a flea market for the International Museum Day, and, every two years, a farm and threshing festival.
