About the museum
The Collection of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Art of Kythira is housed in the Byzantine church of the Analipsis (Ascension), a single-aisle, barrel-vaulted church without mural decoration, in Livadi on the island. The church holds rich exhibits from the early Christian to the late post-Byzantine period.
Visitors can see detached wall paintings from churches on the island, rare fragments of early Christian mosaic floors and post-Byzantine icons. Various ecclesiastical objects are also displayed, such as silverwork, metalwork and ceramics.
The collection operates only during the summer period, on Wednesdays and Fridays.
