About the museum
Spákonuhof in Skagaströnd is dedicated to Þórdís the seer, the first named resident of Skagaströnd, who lived there in the late 10th century. The museum is in a former wartime Nissen hut.
The story of Þórdís is told on a large painted wall hanging that leads visitors through the exhibition on prophecy and prophecies. The exhibition is meant to appeal to both adults and children and describes a place where past, present and future meet. Children can look inside Þórdís’s treasure chest, which holds various hidden objects.
On request, visitors can have their fortune told from cards or from the palm. The museum also sells Icelandic handicrafts and design goods.
