About the museum
Seamus Heaney: Listen Now Again is an exhibition of the National Library of Ireland about the Nobel Prize-winning poet. It is shown in the Bank of Ireland Cultural and Heritage Centre on Westmoreland Street and is staged in partnership with the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and with Bank of Ireland. The exhibition is currently scheduled to run until 2027.
Its material comes from the archive that Heaney and his family gave to the National Library in 2011. The display is centred on the poet’s writing desk and includes original manuscripts, letters, unpublished works, diary entries, photographs and personal objects, along with multimedia recordings. It explores the personal and cultural influences that shaped his work.
The exhibition was curated by Professor Geraldine Higgins of Emory University. Admission is free, booking is not needed, and a guided tour runs every day at 2 pm. Larger groups are welcome and can arrange a tailored visit in advance.
