About the museum

The Acquario di Genova is in the Porto Antico area, on the Ponte Spinola, and was built as part of the renewal of the city's historic port. The tanks recreate marine and aquatic environments from around the world, from the Mediterranean to rainforests, and house numerous species of fish, marine mammals, reptiles and birds.

The complex is part of the AcquarioVillage, which also includes La Città dei Bambini e dei Ragazzi, the Biosfera and the Bigo, a panoramic lift over the port. It is run by the company Costa Edutainment and carries out research, conservation and educational activities.

The aquarium is open every day of the year; at times some areas or tanks may be under maintenance and not visible to the public.
