About the museum

Carlo Goldoni was born in Venice in 1707 at Ca’ Centanni, a large house in the parish of San Tomà, which today houses the museum dedicated to him. His life unfolded between Venice and Paris, where he died in 1793; family circumstances often took him around Italy.

The museum offers a small route dedicated to the playwright and houses the Biblioteca di Studi Teatrali, with about 30,000 works on the performing arts, regarded as one of the main specialised libraries in the field. One room is reserved for a puppet theatre.

The Casa di Carlo Goldoni is part of the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia and, together with Ca’ Rezzonico and Palazzo Mocenigo, forms the group of the Musei del Settecento Veneziano (Museums of 18th-century Venice), for which a combined ticket is available.
