About the museum
The museum is named after Monsignor Giuseppe Perniciaro (1907–1981), born in Mezzojuso and the first eparch of Piana degli Albanesi, who promoted the Byzantine liturgical traditions and the cultural identity of the Albanian communities of Sicily. A plaque at the entrance names him together with the eparchial library and archive.
According to the sources consulted, the museum corresponds to the Museo eparchiale, housed in the complex of the Italo-Albanian Seminary, which began as an exhibition of Byzantine sacred art on the occasion of the Settimana pro Oriente Cristiano in 1957. The collection offers a key to understanding the religious and cultural identity of the Italo-Albanian community. Among the objects preserved are the vestments and the crozier that Saint Nicholas wears in a 19th-century painting.
No official information on visiting hours or the exhibition route is currently available online.
