About the museum
The C1000 Museum goes back to the passion of the collector Gerard Marsman. He worked for almost ten years in a C1000 supermarket and in 2014, having collected numerous items from the chain, expressed the wish to found a museum. Its origin is the former C1000 branch of Rob Loomans in Hellendoorn; the last stores of the chain closed in 2015.
On 17 December 2023 the museum opened with a reunion for former employees of C1000 Rob Loomans, after which it opened to all visitors; the official opening followed in January 2024. It is located in the countryside on the outskirts of Hellendoorn (Marle) and is run by volunteers.
On show are packaging, rare products and memorabilia from the history of the chain, a deposit machine, a car from the commercials and material from the advertising featuring the actors Jack Wouterse and Cas Jansen. The museum aims to trace the change in shopping from its beginnings to the latest innovations. A coffee or tea is included in the admission price; pastries and cold drinks are available. Events such as film nights take place from time to time.
