About the museum
Museum MORE, which is devoted to modern realism, opened in Gorssel in 2015 and later came to a second location at Schloss Ruurlo. On September 12, 2026, a third location followed in Delden. It was created in cooperation with the Stiftung Twickel, which owns the estate of the same name, and fills a building that had stood empty after the departure of the former museum No Hero.
The museum is housed in the Oude Rentmeesterij, the house of the former estate steward from 1724, on the Hengelosestraat. The building lies on the edge of the Twickel estate, and the tour repeatedly refers to the landscape, nature and quiet of the grounds.
To open, the museum shows works from its own holdings and loans, including from the Museum Arnhem and the Museum Belvédère. Two rooms are devoted to the painter Jan Mankes (1889–1920), of whom MORE holds the largest collection; one of the highlights is the painting "Bomenrij" from 1915. On the upper floor, contemporary Dutch realism can be seen.
