About the museum
The Next Nature Museum is housed in the Evoluon, the UFO-shaped building by Philips in Eindhoven. It opened in 1966 as a symbol of progress and technology and was designated a Rijksmonument (national monument) in 2017. The former Evoluon museum closed in 1989 due to a lack of visitors. Since 2021 the non-profit organization Next Nature has been using the building again: first came a VR time machine in autumn 2021, in 2022 the museum opened with its first exhibition, "RetroFuture", in 2023 came "Spacefarming", and in February 2025 the "Digital Wellness Center".
The house sees itself as a training center for the crew of "Spaceship Earth". Next Nature asks how technology can become so omnipresent and self-directed that it turns into a second nature, and it makes possible future scenarios tangible through exhibitions, educational offers for schools and companies, and events. The core team works in Eindhoven; members live in 44 countries.
The current focus is "Once Upon a Time… the Earth", an immersive exhibition about the Earth as the main character of a story, from the Big Bang to the smartphone. It is the first chapter of the emerging permanent exhibition "Enter Spaceship Earth". There are also bookable experiences such as the Quantum Escape Room and the Synthetic Reality experience, as well as events and corporate gatherings at the Evoluon.
