About the museum

The Opel Oldtimer Museum in Tijnje is the first Dutch museum devoted entirely to the Opel brand. It goes back to the collecting passion of Meindert van Wijk, who began as a private hobby in the late 1970s and gradually built up an extensive vehicle collection. In March 2006 the museum moved to its current location.

Across roughly 1,500 square meters stand about 55 Opel vehicles from around 1935 to 1980. Alongside them are other things Opel also produced: strollers, sewing machines, bicycles and refrigerators. There are also model cars, mopeds and individual vehicles of other brands. Walls covered in posters and enamel signs, a reconstructed room setting from the 1950s and 1960s, and a café area round off the visit. Opel spare parts are sold, including in winter, when the museum is closed.
