About the museum
The memorial room was opened on 29 January 1968, on the first anniversary of Adam Grzymała-Siedlecki's death, in his former flat on ul. Libelta. The writer and theatre critic had been associated with the Municipal Library in Bydgoszcz for many years and was a friend of its long-serving director, Witold Bełza. Shortly before his death he bequeathed his estate to the library: manuscripts, correspondence with prominent figures of Polish culture and a rich book collection.
The room contains furniture and souvenirs that once belonged to the writer. The flat also houses the Pracownia Teatrologiczna (Theatre Studies Workshop), which holds books and journals on Polish and world theatre, as well as materials on the history of theatre in Bydgoszcz, including theatre programmes, photographs of performances and a collection of posters of the Teatr Miejski (Municipal Theatre) from 1835–1950.
The site is looked after by the Wojewódzka i Miejska Biblioteka Publiczna (Provincial and Municipal Public Library) in Bydgoszcz.
