About the museum
The Muzeum Historyczno-Etnograficzne w Andrychowie (Historical and Ethnographic Museum in Andrychów) is a private institution founded in 2002 in rebuilt buildings from the 1930s, belonging to the owner’s family at ul. Podgórska.
The exhibition has three parts. The residence has interiors from the interwar period, including parlours, a kitchen and a former office. A separate exhibition devoted to the Jews of Andrychów contains more than 300 exhibits from religious and secular customs: among them are synagogue, Sabbath and Hanukkah candlesticks, Torah scrolls, tallit, tefillin, Talmud volumes, items of clothing and everyday objects.
The third part is housed in a forty-metre barn, where old machines and farm tools, a horse stable, and old furniture, chests and travelling trunks are displayed.
