About the museum
The Edifício Chiado, on Rua Ferreira Borges in the centre of Coimbra, is known for its iron architecture and is classified as a Property of Public Interest. It houses one of the branches of the Museu Municipal de Coimbra, next to the Torre de Almedina and the Torre de Anto, and hosts the permanent art exhibition Dr. Telo de Morais.
The Telo de Morais collection has been in the building since 2001 and includes an important group of Portuguese painting from the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as ceramics, sculpture, silverware and furniture. The building also has two galleries for temporary exhibitions, a library and an auditorium.
