About the museum
The Teatro Romano unit of the Museu de Lisboa, in the historic part of the city, reveals one of the most important monuments of the ancient Felicitas Iulia Olisipo: its theatre, whose visible structures date from the 1st century AD and which could seat around 4,000 people.
It is a site museum. Alongside the archaeological area, it has a permanent exhibition housed in two buildings from different periods, one from the 18th century and one from the late 19th century, directly opposite the theatre. The exhibition includes remains from all the historical periods recognised archaeologically at the site, and it also hosts temporary exhibitions.
The unit is part of the Museu de Lisboa, a municipal facility run by EGEAC, and has a combined ticket with the Palácio Pimenta and Santo António units.
