About the museum

The museum occupies Roca Tarpeya, the group of buildings that served as home and studio to the sculptor Victorio Macho from 1953 onwards. The complex sits on a cliff above the River Tagus and houses both the museum and the headquarters of the Real Fundación de Toledo.

The collection brings together 91 sculptures and 48 drawings dated between 1903 and 1965, mostly from the sculptor's legacy and expanded by the foundation with new pieces. It is shown in three spaces: the museum, with self-portraits, bust portraits and the work “La Madre” (The Mother); the crypt, with “Mi hermano Marcelo” (My Brother Marcelo), studies, drawings and architectural models; and the garden, with outdoor sculptures such as “Eva de América” and “La Máscara” (The Mask).

The large studio the sculptor built, the Tallerón, became an exhibition room during the renovation of the complex in 1999 and now houses the Espacio Rafael Canogar.
