About the museum

Aldbourne Heritage Centre is a small museum in the middle of the village of Aldbourne, next to the Crown Hotel. It is run by volunteers of the Aldbourne Community Heritage Group, a registered charity set up to research the history of the village and to share what it learns with residents and visitors.

The displays draw on a wide range of local themes. These include the village's historic bell-founding industry, the Aldbourne Cup, the lost medieval village of Snap, and local field names. The centre also records the village's military history, with rolls of honour for both world wars and the story of the American 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, the Band of Brothers, whose story is closely tied to the village.

The group changes its displays from time to time and keeps earlier exhibition panels on its website. It also organises tours of the village, including visits for people following the Band of Brothers story and for local schools, and holds regular talks.
