About the museum
Stamford Bridge was built in 1877 as an athletics ground, and Chelsea Football Club was formed there in 1905. The club opened its first museum in the Shed Galleria to mark its centenary in 2005.
A new, larger museum with interactive displays opened behind the Matthew Harding Stand in June 2011. Visitors now enter through the Tour and Museum entrance at the back of the stadium, where the check-in desk is located.
The standard Stadium Tour lasts about one hour and is led by a guide; every tour ticket includes entry to the museum, and a museum-only ticket is also sold. Other tours include the longer Classic Tour, tours led by former players and a private VIP tour. Tours end in the club shop, and tickets are best booked in advance.
