About the museum
Conwy Culture Centre opened in December 2019 next to the medieval town walls, close to the junction of Town Ditch Road and Bangor Road. It was built as a joint home for the area library, the county archive service, exhibition space and a community arts and heritage hub, and the project was supported by a £900,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The library has served Conwy since 1864 and moved here from its earlier home in the Civic Hall on Castle Street. Heritage displays and interactive exhibits are set among the library shelves, drawing on the council's museum collection of more than 1,000 objects and presenting local history in a family-friendly way.
Conwy Archives holds thousands of documents, maps and photographs about the whole county. The building also contains the Cantîn café, a sensory garden and a community meeting room that can be booked, and it hosts events and workshops on arts, heritage and culture.
