About the museum

The Corris Railway Museum stands in Station Yard in Corris, beside the narrow-gauge railway that once carried slate down the Dulas Valley. The main station buildings were demolished in 1968, but the neighbouring stable block survived, and the Corris Railway Society acquired it together with a short section of trackbed.

The first part of the building opened as the museum in 1970. A short demonstration track was laid in 1971, and the museum has been extended step by step as more of the building has been restored. Today it also houses the railway shop and a refreshment area.

Exhibits include original slate-carrying wagons and a rescued original Corris Railway carriage, together with historical items from the line. The railway itself, now run by volunteers, carries passengers between Corris and Maespoeth on selected days from spring to autumn, and the museum opens around the train times.
