About the museum
The Exeter City Football Club Museum was founded in 2018 with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund. It is a joint project of Exeter City Football Club, the ECFC Supporters Trust and the University of Exeter, and it is overseen by the ECFC Museum Trust, a registered charity. Its aim is to preserve and share the history and heritage of the club.
The museum takes a stadium-wide approach at St James Park. A museum room on the ground floor holds fixed displays and archive material, while other exhibits are spread around the ground. The Historic Timeline traces the club from the first recorded match at St James Park in 1894 to recent visits to Wembley, the Walk of Fame honours memorable goalscorers of the past fifty years and all players since 1901, and the Hall of Fame in the Adam Stansfield Stand celebrates twelve club legends. A further display looks back at the club's tour to Brazil.
The best way to see the displays is to join a Supporters Trust stadium tour, which runs on match days and can be booked for other times. Private visits to the displays and archive can be arranged, and a digital archive of the collection is available online through the University of Exeter.
