About the museum
The Fife and Forfar Yeomanry Museum is a small regimental collection with a library and an archive. It is kept at Yeomanry House on Castlebank Road in Cupar and records the history of the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry, a volunteer cavalry regiment of eastern Scotland.
The collection is housed in a walled compound of buildings that was finished in 1842 and used as a prison. The complex later became a military barracks and, in 1890, a drill hall for the 1st Fifeshire Light Horse Volunteer Corps. Today it is still a drill hall of the Scottish and North Irish Yeomanry and a working Army Reserve site, so the museum is not open on a regular basis.
