About the museum
The museum grew from the private collection of Ben Nock, a radio amateur who began preserving military wireless equipment in the 1980s. It is financed privately and receives no outside funding or grants. In 2011 the collection moved into a larger building in Kidderminster, with later extra display buildings added on the plot behind.
The aim of the museum is to preserve the history of military radio equipment, such as the Wireless Set 19, the R1155 receiver, the Wireless Set 18 and clandestine agent sets. It has the facilities to research and restore equipment, and the results are published on its website. The museum also accepts new acquisitions and gives talks to clubs and societies.
The collection covers sets from Britain, North America, Germany, Japan, Russia, France and other countries, and includes an Enigma machine and a large group of spy radios. Pieces from the collection have been used in television and film productions, and the museum takes displays to shows, rallies and commemorative events.
