About the museum
Myreton Motor Museum was founded in 1966 by Willie Dale, whose love of motor cars led to an ever-growing collection. Through the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s he gathered motoring memorabilia and old cars and saved many models from destruction. When the farm sheds at Lochhouses Farm became too small, he bought cattle courts at Myreton and turned them into a museum, which opened in August 1966.
Michael Mutch was curator from the opening until his death in 1999. Many of Willie Dale's vehicles are still owned by the family and remain on display, alongside younger models.
The collection includes cars, bicycles, motorcycles and commercial vehicles dating from 1899, together with an assortment of period advertising, posters, enamel signs and toy vehicles. A 1925 Bullnose Morris Oxford in the museum was later used as Dr Cameron's car in the television series Dr Finlay's Case Book. The museum describes itself as a traditional museum and does not currently accept card payments.
