About the museum
Pershore Heritage Centre is run by the Pershore Heritage and History Society, which was established in the 1990s to research, preserve and share the history of Pershore. The society staffs the centre with volunteer stewards, who are happy to answer questions from residents, newcomers and visitors.
The centre is based in Pershore Town Hall and has more than 2,000 square feet of wall and floor displays. Its varied collection of objects, memorabilia and social history relates mostly to Pershore and the surrounding villages, and the displays have included early needlework samples.
More than 100 folders of documents, photographs, notes and family histories are kept in the smaller room for visitors to consult. New folders were bought with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund project World War I in the Vale. Local history books, including collections of photographs compiled by a former chairperson of the society, are on sale. The society also holds monthly talks for members and visitors.
