About the museum
The Royal Logistic Corps Museum first opened to the public in 1995, in a purpose-built building beside the Corps headquarters at Princess Royal Barracks, Deepcut. When those barracks closed in 2019 the museum moved with the Corps to Worthy Down, north of Winchester, where the Princess Royal opened a new museum in May 2021.
The building cost about seven million pounds and offers a much larger exhibition area than the old site, together with a cinema and a dedicated space for temporary exhibitions. It tells the story of military logistics, the supply, transport, catering, ordnance and pioneer work that keeps an army moving, and brings together the collections of the Corps' forming museums, including the Royal Corps of Transport, the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, the Royal Pioneer Corps and the Army Catering Corps.
The galleries cover about 300 years, from Waterloo to Kabul, with uniforms, medals, ordnance, vehicles and personal mementoes. A D-Day annex added in 2024 shows an amphibious DUKW and a Mulberry Harbour anchor, and a dedicated section looks at the Corps' horse-drawn heritage. The museum is an Accredited Museum and a registered charity; about 20,000 objects are cared for behind the scenes, and a free digital guide can be used on site.
