About the museum
The Rushen Heritage Centre is in Bridson Street in Port Erin, close to the beach and the railway museum. It is the public face of the Rushen Heritage Trust, a non-profit group formed in 2014 and led by volunteers, which records and shares the history of the Rushen district in the far south of the island.
The centre holds exhibitions throughout the year on the history and sights of the south. The trust’s area covers Port Erin, Port St Mary, the Bronze Age Mull Circle, the heritage village of Cregneash and the Calf of Man. Volunteers are on hand to answer questions and to show visitors around.
The centre also sells books published by the trust, together with maps and local gifts, and acts as an information point in partnership with Visit Isle of Man. The trust runs a yearly programme of talks and publishes local heritage books.
