About the museum
Shere Museum is a registered charity run entirely by volunteers. It collects and shows artefacts and documents from the Surrey area, with a focus on the parish of Shere, which includes the villages of Shere, Gomshall and Peaslake.
The displays present everyday objects such as tools, toys, domestic items and clothing, mostly from Victorian times to the 1950s. They also cover the village’s links with film and photography and with the architect Edwin Lutyens. Several exhibitions are held each year.
The museum’s archive holds old photographs, records, maps, society records and parish magazines, which can be used for personal research by appointment. Evening talks are held in Shere Village Hall on the second Tuesday of each month.
