About the museum
Sma' Shot Cottages are the only buildings left on what was once Shuttle Street in Paisley. They were built between 1735 and the early 1750s and now work as a museum that gives visitors a first-hand impression of the world of hand-loom weavers.
The cottages show two periods of Paisley's textile heritage: an eighteenth-century weaver's cottage and a nineteenth-century mill worker's cottage. Photographs and local objects are displayed in three rooms, which are a loom shop, a kitchen and living area, and a reception area.
The cottages are owned and run by the Old Paisley Society, a registered charity. Visitors can also stop at the tearoom, which serves home baking, and at the shop, which sells souvenirs and gifts.
