About the museum
The Surrey Fire Museum is run by the Fire Brigades of Surrey Preservation Trust, an independent registered charity that has existed since 1987 and is run entirely by unpaid volunteers. The trust is not part of, or funded by, the fire authority, although much of the history it documents concerns Surrey Fire Brigade and Surrey Fire and Rescue Service.
The museum is a small one inside the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service headquarters on Croydon Road in Reigate. Its collection is a mix of memorabilia relating to the fire brigades that served Surrey over the years.
Because the site is a working fire station, only the museum is open to visitors and facilities are limited. Visitors have to follow the instructions of staff and any cordons in place. The museum can also be visited during the fire service’s occasional open days at the Reigate headquarters.
