Panzermuseum East
Private collection of Warsaw Pact military vehicles near Slagelse – tanks, trucks, and artillery from the Cold War on a 17-hectare site.
Over het museum
The foundation was laid by Allan Pedersen, who began collecting military vehicles from Eastern Europe around 1996. On May 3, 2014, he officially opened Panzermuseum East on a site at Esholte, south of Slagelse. The museum describes itself as the largest private collection of Warsaw Pact vehicles in Scandinavia.
It shows the technical and tactical development of tanks and military vehicles from the Second World War to the end of the Cold War in 1991. The halls hold, among other things, a T-72 built under license in Czechoslovakia, which according to the museum is the largest main battle tank in Danish private ownership, as well as T-55 and T-34-85 tanks, infantry fighting vehicles such as the BMP-1, wheeled armored vehicles such as the BRDM-2, BTR-60, and OT-64 SKOT, more than 20 trucks from Eastern European manufacturers, off-road vehicles, motorcycles with sidecars, and field guns. The vehicle display is complemented by uniforms, badges, and technical equipment.
The museum is located in a Christmas tree plantation with lakes and hiking trails. Besides the exhibition, there is a café, a shop with models and toys, activities for children, and a pitch for motorhomes. The Military Days take place every year.
