Over het museum
La Fabuloserie is a museum devoted to outsider art (art hors-les-normes), opened to the public in 1983 in Dicy, in the Yonne department. Its founder, Alain Bourbonnais, had met Jean Dubuffet in 1971 and then opened the Atelier Jacob gallery in Paris in 1972, dedicated to these creators, with a first exhibition on Aloïse. He died in 1988. After the death of Caroline Bourbonnais in 2014, Agnès and Sophie Bourbonnais took over the running of the museum.
The site comprises a house museum, which displays works from the collection, and an inhabited garden, populated with creations. The Petit Pierre carousel, a large mechanical and poetic construction, was inaugurated in the park in 1989; it celebrated its thirtieth anniversary in 2019, and a crowdfunding campaign in 2021 made it possible to save its Eiffel Tower.
The museum celebrated its fortieth anniversary in 2023, notably with a major exhibition at the Halle Saint Pierre in Paris. A gallery-bookshop existed on rue Jacob in Paris from 2016 to 2022. The museum now welcomes individual visitors, adult groups and school classes, with an educational programme.
