Over het museum
The Montaigu museum opened on July 10, 1978, on the initiative of Monsieur Laronze, the town’s former mayor. It is housed in the Pavillon des Nourrices, a 17th-century building listed as a historic monument, on the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville.
The collections depict the lives of Montaigu’s residents from the Gallo-Roman period to the present day, through artworks and everyday objects such as clothing and work tools. They include archaeology, local paintings, weapons and ethnographic objects. The museum has held the “Musée de France” label since 2003.
