Over het museum
La Barbera dels Aragonés is a 17th-century country house that was transformed into a Romantic mansion and reached its peak in the 19th century. It belonged to the Aragonés family, whose members included politicians, soldiers and clergymen.
Today it is part of the Vilamuseu network and holds 19th-century furniture and household objects from very different origins. Among them are numerous British objects, such as tableware and biscuit tins that, according to local accounts, were bought by the British royal family, and furniture that was shown at the Great Exhibition in London in 1851.
The house gives the impression that time has stood still within it. It can be visited without a guide and free of charge on the days set by Vilamuseu.
