Over het museum
The interpretation centre is housed in the Fortín de San Bartolomé, one of the defensive works of Pamplona’s city walls, and opened in 2010. Its aim is to explain how the city’s fortifications were built, the defence strategies, and the relationship between the walls and Pamplona’s history.
The exhibition is spread over several rooms set in the fort’s former barracks: a reception and information room, and others devoted to the evolution of the walls, their adaptation to longer-range weapons, their effect on residents, trades and urban development up to 1915, and other fortified cities designed by engineers who worked in Pamplona.
The City Council complements the visit with family activities, such as guided walks along the walls and bastions, games and gymkhanas.
