Over het museum
Espais Volart opened in 2002 as the exhibition hall of the Fundació Vila Casas, a private body dedicated to promoting contemporary Catalan art, and was extended in 2017. It occupies the former warehouses of the modernista Casa Antònia Puget and the ground floor of Casa Felip, on Carrer d'Ausiàs Marc, with an exhibition area of around 1,600 m².
The space presents temporary exhibitions of contemporary Catalan artists drawn from the foundation's holdings, with particular attention to lesser-known figures. Artists who have shown in its galleries include Xavier Valls, Moisès Villèlia, Miguel Rasero, Joaquim Chancho and Mayte Vieta.
The Fundació Vila Casas also runs other contemporary art museums, such as Can Framis in Barcelona, Can Mario in Palafrugell and Palau Solterra in Torroella de Montgrí. Espais Volart also offers guided tours, activities and venue hire.
