Over het museum
The Museu Aeronàutic de Catalunya is promoted by the Fundació Parc Aeronàutic de Catalunya (FPAC), whose founding aims include promoting aviation culture. The museum stands at Sabadell airport, on a 10,500 m² plot ceded by AENA to Sabadell town council so that the foundation could bring the project to fruition.
The collection includes more than fifty aircraft, both static and airworthy. Among those that fly are classic aircraft such as the Bücker Jungmann, the Boeing Stearman PT-13, the North American T-6 Texan, the de Havilland Tiger Moth, the Polikarpov I-153 and the Hispano Aviación HA-220 Super Saeta. Among the static ones are the Lockheed F-104G Starfighter, the McDonnell Douglas F-4C Phantom II, the Hispano Aviación HA-200 Saeta, the Fairchild Argus and the Blériot XI. Several pieces are being restored.
On the third Sunday of each month the foundation holds the “PAC Obert” open days, with a display of classic aircraft maintained by benefactors and volunteers, and a ground and flight demonstration. In addition, the FPAC maintains at Barcelona–El Prat airport the Centre Cultural Aeronàutic, with a permanent exhibition on a century of civil aviation in Catalonia.
