Over het museum
The museum is in the salon of the Raffel Pagès firm, on the Rambla de Catalunya, and houses a collection devoted to the history of hairdressing since Antiquity. The company itself presents it as the most important collection in the world in this field. It traces the evolution of hairstyles and of people's appearance over time, from ancient periods to the present day.
Raffel Pagès comes from a family of hairdressers. In 1975 it opened its first salon in Barcelona, on the calle de la Reina Elisenda, and later founded the Instituto de Perfeccionamiento Raffel Pagès (1992), which trains professionals. The museum is linked to this firm and is visited by appointment only; admission includes a guided visit.
