Over het museum
The site in Sedlec-Prčice is dedicated to Vítek I of Prčice and the Vítkovci family, lords of the five-petalled rose coat of arms, from whose four sons the main branches of the family arose: the lords of Krumlov and Rožmberk, the lords of Hradec, of Landštejn and of Třeboň. It is run by the company Vítek z Prčice s.r.o. and, according to its own description, is gradually being developed as a memorial and a new castle.
The family museum is housed in the palace, which is a copy of a castle church and of a magnate’s palace with an underground passage from the 12th century. It includes models of the Vítek of Prčice stronghold with its craftsmen’s settlement, documents, a family tree, paintings of descendants, and seals, including the seal of Vítek of Prčice attested in 1220. A separate tour covers a set of 26 paintings depicting real stories from the lives of the Vítkovci.
The castle settlement under construction, with models of Vítkovci castles, is aimed mainly at children. The site also includes a brewery with a tour devoted to the history of brewing, a castle restaurant, a shop and accommodation.
